THE ISSUES

We need to attract funds to preserve local features of interest

Tourism would help to raise funds, but need to provide something worth looking at!

Which sites should we concentrate on preserving?

Historical Sites Worth Preserving

The Town Hall and clock are famous and visually important to the village. They are in need of repair. With the building of the new village hall, they will become redundant. Action needs to be taken soon to preserve them for the future, together with other important historical sites.

Below are responses gathered from the Questionnaire distributed in September 2002

They are prioritised in order of Desirability, Affordability and Speed of Achievement, from A (very desirable) to E (not desirable at all). A rating of 3 A's represents a top priority project, a 3 E rating would not be pursued unless circumstances change in the future.

Our Proposals

  • The committee will prioritise fundraising to preserve the Town Hall as is or as a museum
  • Links with the John Hamden society will be maintained as they incur low cost
  • The committee will aim to promote local heritage sites via the internet and local tourist offices
