GRAMPOUND with CREED PARISH COUNCIL NOTICE BOARD

Casual Vacancy – Members accepted, with regret, the resignation of Cllr. Jane Sloan. This means that we now have a casual vacancy, which the existing Members can fill by co-option. If anyone is interested in serving their community in this way, will they please contact the Clerk?
Weighbridge Bus Stop – following a request from residents, who alight from the St Austell bound bus at this point, which is an unpleasant experience when the grass verge there is wet. The Parish Council approached County Highways and we are pleased to report that, in principle, they have agreed to provide a hardstand area at this bus stop. We are still at the early stages, but our thanks go to Cllr. Bob Egerton for his support with this.
Parish Footpaths – in addition to our usual maintenance regime of cutting back the vegetation from the footpaths in the parish, we plan some further improvements. Again, Bob Egerton has been able to obtain a commitment from Highways to let us have some “plannings” when they are next working in the area. These will be laid on the River Fal footpath. We also plan some work on the Mill Lane to Pepo Lane footpath, which should make it easier for walkers.
Clockwinder – for many years Kevin Blayney was responsible for winding the Town Hall clock Now that Kevin has moved with his family to Probus this was no longer practical, but we are fortunate that Mr Dudley Jacomb has stepped into the breach. Our thanks to them both.
Guides Centenary – to celebrate their centenary, the Guides have planted daffodil bulbs around the village. We shall all enjoywatching them flower in the Spring. Our grateful thanks go to them.
Speed Watch Scheme – in October, we had a visit from Police Support Officer Tony Hemming, who spoke to Members, regarding the Speed Watch Scheme. They are looking for a minimum of 6 volunteers, all of whom must be vetted, which can take 6-10 weeks. But the idea is that the trained volunteers will be able to measure the speed of traffic in the village, using hand-held speed devices, and enter their findings onto the Police computer system. There should be more to report on this initiative in a future issue of the Grampound Times.
