Wow ! What a fantastic year so far and still 2 months left to go! The summer seemed to fly by and already half term is here, we will be looking up our Christmas card list and putting up our trees before we know it. It seems a long time now since March when I was elected in as Chair to the PFA and we have managed to cram so many great fundraising events and challenges into the year. So far we have had cake stalls, a fantastic garden project, a grand school open day and fete, Bric-a-brac stall and a craft fayre.
The total raised so far this year has been a staggering £1315. As I am sure many of the readers are aware there has been a very special focus for the fundraising events this year and that is to update the School’s very old ICT equipment and in particular to purchase interactive whiteboards for both classes. As is always the case within the community we have been greatly supported as was particularly evident during our school garden open day and fete. Those of you who attended will remember with joy the children who performed a traditional May pole dance and how proud Mrs Haddy the headmistress was when the ribbon was cut to officially open the garden, this task being undertaken by Jordan Perryman from Class 1 and Sacha Fann of Class 2. The children also entertained the crowds with their very own game stalls. There were also cakes, plants and Tom bola, for refreshments we served a traditional cream tea and the school looked resplendent in hand made bunting which included all the children’s individual designs focused on the Garden project. The afternoon raised in excess of £400. Thanks to you all. Personally this has to be the highlight of my year so far, it was a wonderful project to be involved in and great fun for all of us who took part in constructing it.
Our Craft Fayre was the next large money raiser, this was held at the end of September and despite the weather (rain, most of the day) was a grand success, again the total was in excess of £300 raised and those who braved the weather all said what a good time they had and what fantastic unusual stalls. Unfortunately October has bought us down with a bump however, as despite all the very positive and supportive advertising promotion in the local press and radio for all our activities we have had to cancel our forthcoming Gala Ball Scheduled for 11 th November due to lack of ticket sales. Never ones to be daunted we have booked our very own village hall for the night and we will be hosting a Grand Auction and Raffle including Wine and Cheese, We have had so many fantastic prizes and gifts offered we really feel this will be a very special night indeed and one where I am sure you will pick up that unusual Christmas gift. Please note we will be taking sealed bids before the day. To request a catalogue please contact me.
We are very much hoping that by Christmas we will have reached in excess of £1500 and possibly nearer to £2000. This in mind here are the events scheduled for the next 2 months.
