Through the School holidays we were asked if, with the Guides and Rainbows we could entertain the judges at the Village of the Year Competition, and I am pleased to say that we managed to rustle up 12 girls. Afterwards we were congratulated by the judges for having a very tuneful group. We also provided a display of photographs, badges and Guiding information.
The Carnival was our next event and despite the weather we had a successful stall at the fete and our entry entitled “A Guide Around the World” gained us 2 nd Prize. Well done to the girls and their families who supported us so well with items for the stall and the excellent costumes.
With our numbers rising to 22 at the beginning of the new term we started a fourth patrol. We now have Dolphins, Elephants, Penguins and Starfish.
Our activities this term have included wall climbing at Porthpean, a talk from a Vet who tested four of the guides for their Animal Active Badge, a circus skills evening where the guides had a go at juggling, plate spinning, acrobatics and a couple tried stilt walking.
At the Children In Need fundraising evening we had various stalls and a Pudsey picture competition.
We finished the term by having a Christmas Crafts evening, where the guides had chance to make various Christmas items.
Guides meet on a Friday night and are for girls aged 10 to 14 years, if anyone would like more information, please give me a call on 01726 882877 .
