Hello Everybody,
Welcome to the 43 rd and Christmas edition of your “Grampound Times”. As with all previous issues we are again blessed with an excellent number of advertisements - all offering goods and services of the best possible quality. Very many of our everyday needs are on offer so please use. From all of us to each and everyone of the business people who support this magazine I send our Wishes for a Great Christmas Season and Prosperous New Year trading.
Carnival week culminating in the Carnival itself was again good fun this year - shame about the weather, but perhaps a mark of the quality of the Committee’s work was the fact that despite the disappointing weather, everything was a great success and we all had a good time. Oh yes!, one point I must make having been taken personally to task - the programme of events as printed in the Grampound Times was provided by the Carnival Chairman and was not the dreaming of your editor. The changes to the order of events were made by the Carnival Committee after this magazine had gone to press - sorry if the printed programme they provided confused you.
Quickly putting on one of my other hats, that of Football Club President, I thank all of you who have expressed regrets at the considerable damage caused to the football field playing surface by the mindless idiots who chose to use it as a race track between 2am and 4am one morning. The damage resulting was so great as to make it necessary for the two football teams to play all their matches away for at least a month. The Club’s sincere thanks are given to ANDREW PERRY of Greenholme, Creed Lane, for his excellent work to enable the surface to recover.
I am personally very much looking forward to this years Service of Lessons and Carols in St. Nun’s Church on Friday the 15 th December, when the Christmas Trees installed should make a very happy scene. The new organ installed there is playing a treat - hope you can come along and enjoy it and help with the carols!
I hope you enjoy this edition of “The Grampound Times” and hey! Have a go at the Quiz - nothing to lose, except the 1 st Prize if you don’t try.
A Very Happy Christmas to you all and Sincere Wishes for a Prosperous and Healthy New Year of 2007.
