Once again the Rainbows have had an enjoyable term. The weather has been kind so we have spent a lot of time outside. We were able to walk from Tresillian to St. Clements, spend time on Carne Beach and visit the Aquarium at Mevagissey. We finished the term having fun sports on the Recreation Ground field.
The Guides have been quite active this term and taken advantage of the nice evenings. We were invited to camp at half term with the Truro Guides. This took place at Condurro and twelve girls attended and had an amazing time.
We have also been crabbing at Mevagissey, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the girls as we finished off the evening with fish and chips! Carne Beach was visited one week where some of the girls took their Promise and then they all had a brilliant time just playing on the beach and enjoying a Bar-B-Q. The Guides also took part in the Patrol Cooking Competition, where they had to plan, prepare and cook a two course meal outside using fresh ingredients. The heat for the District was held at Grampound and our four patrols took part as no other guiding unit from the District had entered. They all did a brilliant job and Sonya and Mark (the judges) found it very hard to choose the best two patrols. The Elephant and Rose patrols went on to the County final and came second and third, which was an amazing achievement; we are all very proud of them.
Five girls also attended and helped at the Royal Cornwall Show and the Merlin Fun Day. As well as these activities the girls also manage to work for badges and use the Recreation Ground for games, such as Rounders.
As the Guiding Centenary year starts in September 2009 we will be planting bulbs in Grampound to commemorate this occasion during September.
Oh yes, finally, look out for us in Grampound’s September Carnival - we shall be there!!
