1 ST GRAMPOUND RAINBOWS

This year is the 20 th Anniversary of the Rainbows movement. There have been lots of activities this year to mark this special occasion. The first thing we joined in with was the Birthday Challenge Badge. There were activities to take part in from each of the four Rainbow points, Look, Learn, Love and Laugh. We were given a choice of activities under each of the headings and when we had completed one from each section the Birthday Badge was awarded. The activities we undertook were:-

Love: Find 20 different fruits and vegetables from around the world, and the girls really enjoyed this one. I found the most obscure fruit and veg I could, to see if anyone knew what they were. They were very good and loved trying the different types of fruit.

Learn: This section required us to look for 20 places of interest in our local area and some of you may have seen us on our Rainbow Quest. We split into four groups each armed with a list of 20 clues about various houses in Grampound - it really made them have a look around the village.

Look: Find 20 things to recycle. The girls each brought something from home and we talked about what you can and can’t recycle, who recycles things at home and why we should recycle. They were all very positive about recycling and I found could teach us a thing or two.

Laugh: Find 20 ways with water. Unfortunately due to the rain, which seems slightly ironic, we have been unable to get outside to perform this activity yet!

We have had a very wet Summer Term and have had to cancel most of our outdoor activities, but we did manage to walk from Tresillian to St. Clements, and HANNAH TREMAINE and LYNSEY BISHOP made their Rainbow Promise beside the river.

As I am writing this I am hoping for better weather as on Saturday of this week, as I am going with SYLVIA MCKAY, LAURA BLAYNEY, JADE STILL and three of our Rainbows, EMMA BLAYNEY, EMILIA LONG and MOLLY RUNDLE to The Royal Cornwall Showground to join with other Rainbows and their Leaders for a Pink Princess Party. There will be various crafts, games and singing to join in with, plus an attempt at the largest ‘Pass The Parcel’ game ever.

Do you have anything that you would particularly like to know about Rainbows? If so please give me a call on 01726 882877.
