Grampound Rainbows continue to remain a strong group and we finish for the Summer currently with 15 girls.
Thanks to the excellent weather most of this term has been outdoor activities. We have played rounders, walked in the woods, had a teddy bears picnic, made kites and flew them, enjoyed an evening of silly sports and enjoyed various other games on the field.
We took some Rainbows to Goonhavern to join other Rainbows from the local area to join in with Rainbow Capers, an afternoon of craft, games, singing and they came away laden with things they had made and chatting about new friends they had made.
The term ended with 3 Rainbows making their Promise, MILLY RUNDLE, EMMA BLAYNEY and JODIE RICE and us losing 2 others, YANA WILLIAMS AND KAYLEIGH BISHOP up to Brownies.
We are currently planning our carnival entry and we shall be at the afternoon Fete with the Guides at our stall.
I would like to say a big thank you to LAURA BLAYNEY and JADE STILL who continue to be our Rainbow helpers and who work very hard alongside myself and SYLVIA MCKAY providing invaluable extra pairs of hands.
Rainbows are for girls aged 5 – 7 years. We meet at Grampound School & Community Hall on Thursdays between 5.45pm and 7pm

We are so pleased with the successful start we have had for our Guide Unit and would like to thank everyone who has supported us through our first term, which has been a busy one.
We have walked the old Roman Road, played volleyball, canoed, cooked outdoors, held a sports evening and made lots of plans for future activities. But I think the highlight of this term was our very special Promise Evening, where we were joined by past Guides from the village, BARBARA TREGUNNA, NANCY NEWMAN, JOY ROWE and SALLY VERCOE, we hope you all had a good evening and brought back memories of your times as Guides. We were also joined by other Guiding and Scouting members of the village and many other friends and family. We thank you all for helping to make it a very special and memorable evening.
On Saturday 22 nd July several of the Guides gave up their Saturday afternoon to come and help run a stall at Probus Fun Day where we joined our Rainbows and Brownies from Probus and Veryan for an afternoon of activities to celebrate the Queen’s 80 th birthday.
On the last Friday of term we were joined by the brownies that will join us in September, and this will take us up to 24 Guides and we will be adding to our 3 patrols, currently Elephants, Dolphins and Penguins a fourth, Pandas.
We shall join with our Rainbows running a stall at the Carnival Fete and entering into the Carnival.
Guides are for girls aged 10 to 14 years. We meet at the Grampound School and Community Hall on Fridays between 6pm and 8pm.
My thanks to SYLVIA MCKAY, AMANDA EDGE and SAM SHEARING for their invaluable assistance in running our Unit.
