The Grampound Times

Grampound with Creed Parish Council
Noticeboard

Grass Cutting – in the last edition of the Grampound Times we made an appeal for help with grass cutting in the village, and it was most gratifying when a number of residents stepped forward to help. If anyone else feels they can spare a couple of hours will they please contact the Parish Clerk?

Restormel Pilot Study – the Parish Council is taking part in a Pilot Study with Restormel Borough Council’s Planning Department. A firm of consultants will be employed to look at any development in terms of affordable housing and design.

Annual Report – the Council’s Annual Report 2006 should have been delivered/ posted to every household in the parish by the time that you read this. If you have not received your copy, please let the Parish Clerk know. We hope that you like the new look and find the contents informative. Please let us have your feedback, we would love to hear from you.

Parish Plan Questionnaire – residents will recently have received a questionnaire from the Parish Council, and it is very much hoped that you will spare the time to fill it out and make your views known. It is based on the original Parish Plan and will enable the Council to update its Action Plan, in line with your wishes, thus we will be able to concentrate our efforts where you, the resident, wants it.

Recycle Bags – those living in the village will also have received a recycling bag, courtesy of M.E. Grigg Ltd., as a reward for making such a big effort in the recent recycling competition. Grampound was a very close second in the competition and this is due to the effort put in my so many of you. Thank you very much. <

Grampound to Golden Footpath – we have secured a further £2,000 towards the cost of the footbridge over the River Fal – necessary if we are to realise our ambition to open this footpath for public use. We still have some way to go towards the total cost and we are actively continuing our efforts to raise further funding.

Parish Meeting – a number of issues were raised, by residents, and the Parish Council are taking these forward, where appropriate. In particular:

  • “Beware Walkers/Riders” Signs – there was a suggestion that, perhaps, such signs would reduce the speed of traffic on our minor roads. We have taken this up with CCC Highways.

  • Village Wind Turbine – it was suggested that this might be an asset to the village and it is hoped that an expert in the field will attend a Parish Council meeting in the near future, to explain what is involved, etc.

  • Over 60s Club – Cllr. Webb will be taking this to the Village Hall Committee, because it is felt they might be prepared to organise this in the first instance.

  • Guided Walks – Cllr. Webb has offered to pick one of the walks and draw up a draft leaflet, for further consideration.

  • Local History Group - it was felt this might fall naturally out of the Heritage Centre project.
