Guide Messenger Service

Anyone who has been even a casual visitor to the Royal Cornwall Show over the years cannot fail to have noticed amongst the huge crowds that always gather there, the members of the Girl Guide Movement who throughout the period of the show aid the smooth running of the event by carrying messages and information between show management and all organisations taking part. This year 1st Grampound Guides took part and JADE STILL and LAURA BLAYNEY have written to tell you about it.

GUIDE MESSENGER SERVICE

On Thursday the 8 th of June after a very early start we travelled to Wadebridge for the Royal Cornwall Show. Arriving there at 7am we discovered that we would be working on 2 hour shifts and at 8am, wearing our messenger T-shirts, we began carrying information around the site from the show secretary’s office.

After 2 hours we had time to look around the show ourselves and then we had a break to enjoy our lunch. Our second period of duty was SHEEP DUTY! Collecting class judging results from the sheep pens, take them to the Press Office, then on to the Secretary’s office, then repeat the procedure over again.

It was an amazing day and great to feel that we had helped the success of the show. It was a tiring day but we both hope to be able to return next year.
