Works at Creed: Good news is often difficult to come by especially when the subject of concern requires seemingly endless community effort to ensure the costs are met. Good news therefore, now that the main work at Creed has been completed and the accounts checked it has been found that there is a funding surplus, mainly due to the contingency sum previously allocated not being used in full. With buildings of such antiquity of course there are always smaller but also important jobs that need to be done, and it was decided to carry out some further necessary works within the surplus, and repairs to the plaster walls together with pointing has now been completed. Our next major scheme is to be a new electrical installation and an improved heating system.
Concert at Creed: A very enjoyable evening was spent towards the end of June when we were pleased to receive a visit from the St. Austell Gilbert and Sullivan Singers who gave us a concert of songs and poems of the Gilbert and Sullivan era. After the concert refreshments were served.
David Dixon Retires: A member of the Team serving Grampound, Ladock, Probus and St. Erme the Reverend Dixon and his wife attended a retirement Service on Sea Sunday at Ladock Church to say goodbye. Sea Sunday was a very appropriate day on which to hold the Service as David had been an Officer in the Royal Navy prior to joining the Probus Team. Following the Service we retired to the Parish Hall for a Buffet Lunch and presentations to David. Both Church and Hall were filled with people from all of the four Parishes who came together to give the couple a good send off.
Confirmation: On Wednesday the 26 th July the Bishop of Truro came to St. Nuns to carry out a Confirmation Service. The Confirmation Service brought MISS LAURA BLAYNEY and MISS TEGAN PRICE into our community as full members of the Church. After the Service refreshments were served in the Church. We heartily welcome these two young ladies to our congregation.
Welcome: Very shortly we welcome a retired Vicar, the Reverend to help our Team Rector the Reverend IAN MORRIS to cover Services within the Team’s area now that David has gone. We also welcome the Reverend
PAT ROBSON to Grampound and to our churches when her help currently being given to the Gorran community is no longer needed. Those of you who followed the recent T.V series will feel that you know Pat already and will wish to convey your congratulations to her on her excellent work in Romania.
With these additions to our Team we will be able to maintain our Services and we welcome the new Worship Leaders at Probus, Ladock and St. Erme. We could really do with one or two more here in Grampound, so if you feel you can help please come along and talk to Ian.
Dates for your Diary: The Grampound Churches Parochial Church Council will be grateful for your support on the following dates:
