An Historical Perspective on Grampound Carnival

Interested readers will remember that in the last “Grampound Times” I was able to print a list of Grampound Carnival Royalty over the years. Unfortunately at that time my information left many gaps and I appealed for your help in filling the missing names.

My thanks to JOY ROWE , herself for many years a stalwart of the Carnival Committee, who has now enabled me to complete the list by providing all the following previously missing names.

In the interest of print space I am not reprinting the original list contained in edition No. 41 but you can now add the following names to complete the Roll of Honour.

So there you are folks, the completed list as I know it - unless of course you know different!

Incidentally, the matter of the Grampound Carnival Queen original Crown still remains something of a mystery. From JOY ROWE’S collection of Carnival Queen photographs we now know when it was last included in the procession, but the question still remains……. Where is it now?
