In this age when the style of many organisations, particularly perhaps youth organisations, is being severely cramped by the modern plague of claims and compensation aspects, it was particularly nice to receive reports from HOLLY RABEY and CARRIE PEARCE telling of their enjoyable visit to the local shore line canoeing:
CANOEING AT PORTHPEAN BEACH
On Friday the 16 th June we went to Porthpean Beach to do some canoeing and kayaking. The most important start point was to listen to our instructor and then to put on buoyancy aids after this we went either to the canoeing or the kayaking group. There was an instructor with the canoeing group and another with the kayaks. Our trip took us between two really big rocks, and under an arch in the cliffs. We enjoyed looking through some special boxes which enabled us to see rocks and seaweed at the bottom of the sea. We landed at a tiny little beach and had a rest before swapping craft, those who had canoed in went back in the kayak so that everyone had a chance to try both. As some of us were getting cold the paddle back to Porthpean was much quicker. Carrie found the experience really good fun. Holly liked the kayaking best, had a great time and would love to do it again.
