Best Village Competition

STOP PRESS…..STOP PRESS…..STOP PRESS…..STOP PRESS…..

Just as I complete my efforts for edition No. 42 I learn that D.Day for Grampound in this year's “Best Village Competition” is to be 23 rd AUGUST 2006.

On that date the Judging Panel will arrive and place their judgement upon all the good things that have previously been included in the Entry Form sent to them by Cllr. Mrs. J.SLOAN on behalf of your Parish Council. I should stress that this competitions result does not rest upon just flowers and looking pretty but more upon the community spirit that exists to make Grampound such a successful place. Details of all the organisations that exist here, their successes etc. have been notified to the Competitions organisers and now they are coming to see for themselves! It will be a most important day and I sincerely hope that everyone will play whatever part they can to continue the successes that have been recorded during 2005 and 2006.

Having been in existence for well over 100 years the football club have put all the necessary things in place to satisfy the English Football Association criteria and is one of a very few clubs who can carry the title CHARTER CLUB.

Likewise the Parish Council has succeeded in placing itself into an even smaller elite by achieving the National standard for QUALITY STATUS COUNCIL.

Restormel Borough Council recently staged a competition for the best community Internet Site in the Borough, and thanks almost entirely to the efforts of ALLAN WEBB Grampound’s site was judged No. 1.

These are really important stepping stones into the competition especially when you consider all the other very successful things that take place here each year. Sadly on the special day I shall be away but will have done everything I can to aid the presentation before departing. I hope everyone will have co-operated to the best of their ability to achieve another Grampound No. 1.
