In the last edition of “The Grampound Times” I was pleased to print details of the formation of the “Friends of Probus and Grampound Surgeries Group” - a group of enthusiastic folk working to help improve facilities for all of our good. Although based at Probus their work was intended to improve things throughout the area of the Doctors Practice. I have now received a further report which clearly shows the early success of the venture, which I hope you will be interested to read:

FRIENDS OF THE PROBUS & GRAMPOUND SURGERIES GROUP

The Chairman of the Friends of Probus Surgeries Group was recently able to present two Pulse Oximeters and two Nebulizers for use in Probus and Grampound Surgeries.

David Denton said ‘The Friends are delighted that their fund raising efforts have been so successful and that we are able provide this support to the Surgeries. We are lucky to have such fine surgeries and it is we, the patients, who benefit from this extra equipment.’

The Friends are now embarking on their next project which is to raise funds for the purchase of a 24 hour blood pressure monitor. Their next event will be a Garden Open Day at Tredinnick, Grampound Road on the 18th May 2008 by kind permission of Mrs Beryl Davies.

(Chairman David Denton presents the new equipment to Practice Nurse Valerie Wilkinson whilst Doctor Simon Purchas, Doctor Howard Ball and Sue Dowding, Secretary of the Friends, look on.)

Latest news …

Our most recent event was a Coffee Morning held in the Gulshan Restaurant in Probus by kind permission of Mr. And Mrs. Ali. The sale of cakes and raffle tickets was brisk and in all a total of £180 was raised. Our thanks go to SUE and ALAN ALI at the Gulshan Restaurant and to all those who came and gave so generously.

Our next big event will be a Garden Open Day on Sunday, 18th May at Tredinnick, Grampound, by kind permission of MRS. BERYL DAVIES. The garden will be open from 10.00am until 5.00pm and will include various stalls. Morning coffee and biscuits will be available together with pasties at lunch time and cream teas during the afternoon. The entrance fee will be £2.50 per head. Watch out for notices giving further details nearer the time.

Our thanks go to the many people who have attended our events and we look forward to their continuing support.

DAVID & PHILLIPA DENTON.
