GRAMPOUND WITH CREED PRIMARY SCHOOL

This term has been incredibly short due to the early arrival of Easter and has meant cramming lots into just 9 weeks. Once again we have been incredibly busy and have continued to maintain a high profile in the local community and beyond. As I write we have completed our parent meetings for the year and are currently making ready to support the Sport Relief mile events taking place nationwide. Don’t forget to visit our constantly updated website at www.grampoundwithcreed.ik.org. Here’s the highlights of the term.

The return of the Grampound Furry!

After many weeks of practice the children resurrected the Grampound Furry which had not been seen in the village since 1939.  St. Piran’s day was the obvious time for the revival and the community turned out in force to support the occasion and enjoyed the take of St. Piran’s and traditional Cornish Fayre in the Community Hall afterwards.  This weeks West Briton has a huge article about us. Here’s one of the many pictures we have in school of the evening.  The Furry was one of the many highlights of Cornish Week in which the children had a Cornish language workshop, a Cornish author (Emma Stone) to work with Class 2 and Pugwash Productions for song and dance to wrap up events.

Restormel Cross Country Championships

Once again our pupils have done us proud in the Restormel Borough Cross country championships league. Our year 6 girls came 2nd to Mount Charles school and Anna Venning and Bryher Freight completed 2nd place positions in the individual Year 6 and Year 5 girls events respectively.  In fact both girls were selected for the county championships to be held on the 13th March.  No mean achievement for our small school, well done to all runners.
