This year, in September, the Sunday Club celebrates its 10 th Anniversary. The numbers attending Sunday Club have slowly, but steadily risen over this time and in our book presentation service in February this year 21 books were given out.
We continue to run activities for three age-groups, although the younger two groups often work together at the moment. In the 3-5 year age group we have five children attending, we have four children in the 4-7s and eight children in the 8s – 11s, plus three older helpers who come along regularly. We are pleased to have six boys attending regularly at the moment, two in each age group, as the boys always seem to be in the minority.
The 8s to 11s group has just completed a series of sessions entitled ‘Why God?’ which has prompted lots of questions and some interesting discussions. They are currenty working on a drama sketch for Easter, and planning a fundraising event for a charity of their choice.
The younger two groups have recently been talking about Lent and considering what they could give up. I think sales of Bourbon biscuits could be suffering at the moment if they stick to their goals!
The music group which plays at the Parish Praise services is going from strength to strength and includes children and adults. It has been a great motivator for keeping some of the older children involved in the services.
As usual, new members will always be welcome at Sunday Club and Parish Praise Services.
Sunday Club runs on the 2 nd and 4 th Sundays of each month – 10.30-11.30 at St. Nun’s Church, for children aged 3-11. If you would like more information please speak to any of the leaders Rachel Davies (883630), Dorcas Cuddeford (883900), Julie Blayney (882877), Sally Allen.
