Keeping our Post Office open

The struggle to keep Post Office and shop services available in small communities such as ours has been ongoing for sometime now. Have you noticed how many times Government speakers on T.V etc. try to convince us that they are leading the way to keep village post offices operating, yet anyone with any knowledge as to how the system works must know that the various changes and restrictions to Post Office business is directly contributing to their demise. For example the conversion of Retirement Pension weekly cash payments to transfers into bank accounts was a government initiative and the fact that no longer can one purchase a TV licence at the Post Office - instead it is necessary to travel to a shop at Probus or Tregony or use the general post - is that environmental sense quite apart from customer convenience? But the Post Office is fighting back and probably the list of business conducted at our local Post Office might surprise you.
