Grampound Times : Christmas 2012
(Edition 61)

Club members continue to meet on alternate Thursday afternoons from 2 to 4pm or 4.30pm in the Grampound Community Hall.

We have had a variety of speakers, including MR. DAVID BANNISTER who gave a very interesting talk about Trerice Manor and the National Trust coastal properties, and MR. TONY MARSHALL-HARRIS, J.P, who spoke about his role and answered many questions.

More recently we have enjoyed a fascinating insight into the history of Grampound and its residents, and the Tannery, made possible by illustrated talks by RON HICKS.  Mrs TINA TYLER, one of our members, has also passed on interesting titbits from her in-depth research into the village history.

Highlight of the Summer was a visit to the new Cornwall Air Ambulance station at St. Mawgan on a glorious sunny and warm afternoon.   We were treated to a very informative tour of the ambulance and the station, and given a talk on how the service is run.

On the way there, we enjoyed lunch at the Blue Anchor at Fraddon.   We have had several well attended outings for lunch to the Hewas Inn at Sticker, and the Falmouth Arms at Ladock, and of course the Blue Anchor.

Non-speaker meetings are a mix of gentle exercise, puzzles, quizzes, talk, fun and laughter, and of course, tea and biscuits.   These last were supplemented at Easter by Hot Cross Buns, and at our Jubilee meeting by celebration cakes.   At Christmas we will be looking forward to mince pies and clotted cream!

We cordially invite and welcome anyone who would like to join us.
